The Class of 2017 celebrated the completion of their program on Saturday, December 16, 2017. The ceremony took place in the auditorium of Bolivar High School. Students elected Mrs. Blair Stockton to be their guest speaker and Laura Anderson represented her class as she spoke about all the class had experienced during their program. Each student walked across the stage to receive their diploma and pin. After each of the graduates received their diploma they stood together and recited the Nightingale Pledge.
"I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly to pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully.
I will abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug.
I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession and will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling.
With loyalty will I aid the physician in his work, and as a missioner of health, I will dedicate myself to devoted service for human welfare."
The Nightingale Pledge has been recited from thousands of nursing students for years, and dates back to 1893 when it was written in honor of the creator of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale.
